No
matter what
concept you have chosen for your wedding, your wedding will be on a schedule.
Yes, a schedule. It will be a very full day. We will sit down to discuss with
you the “flow” of your wedding day. The time of year, time of day, size of
wedding party and number of locations will all be discussed to see how much time
there will be to take your formal images. One of the reasons you hire us is you
want the artistic landscapes and portraitures we are known for, we must be given
the time it takes to create them.
We will be giving you a short list of the “expected” wedding shots. We strongly suggest you check out the list and add your “must have” photographs. Get it to us before the wedding. We will be keeping them in mind as we go through the day, all the while making sure we stay with the “schedule” as closely as possible. Nothing worse than having your guests waiting at the reception for the bride & groom to show up.
That being said—we have been noticing an increasing trend in: #1 extended time between the end of the ceremony and the start of the cocktail hour, or #2 an extended cocktail hour to 1-1/2 to 2 hours long. Either choice has allowed time for more dramatic wedding photos capturing the glow of emotions surrounding you.
If you see one of our photographs taken at a certain wedding site, remember, your photograph cannot match exactly. Different day, different time, different weather creates a different composition, different image. Not better, not worse, just different - unique - all you.
Your banquet hall/caterer may not realize how important the photographs of your reception are to you. They attempt to seat us in an the adjoining restaurant or kitchen. To serve our clients interests to our best, in our contract we will add that a place for us is reserved by filling out a place card for Mr. & Mrs. Bernier with a table assigned - to ensure us a seat in the hall, regardless of menu choice, and to serve us on the same schedule as the head table. The best candid shots will be missed if your photographer is dismissed to another part of the building or served a meal last.
